It will be a participation-based event rather than a competition. It is designed for children to have fun and enjoy.
Entry numbers for each of the 2 waves will be limited. There will be no entries on the day. The first wave will start at 10am and the second wave at 10.45am. Early race pack collection Mini Mud Madness will take place at ELLIE MO’S, Unit 5, 134 Dungannon Road, Portadown, Armagh, BT62 1LHfrom 15.00 – 18.30 on Saturday 8th April.

There are designated spectators areas from where you can see many of the obstacles. These areas are clearly marked and we would ask you please stay within these designated areas and do not enter other sections of the course. The ground in these area is rough and potentially muddy. We would ask that special attention is paid to the safety and control of children and pets. The organisers will not be liable for any injuries to spectators.
The runners will be running along the entrance road to the site and this must be clear before the event can start so please stay off the road.
There is NO PARKING on-site for spectators. Please park carefully on the A4 and walk down to registration. The A4 is a very busy road so please be extra careful when parking and leaving.
All competitors taking part in Jaffa Cakes Mud Madness must be aged 16 or over on the day of the race. You may be asked by registration staff to present Photo ID as proof of age on the day. Mini Mud Madness Wave 1 is for 6-11 year olds and Wave 2 is for 12-16 year olds.

Showers / Changing / Toilets / Storage / Clothing
There will be a number of toilets on site. Changing facilities are very limited and basic (marquees / tents). There are no bespoke showers, although as with previous years we will provide a basic system to help competitors wash off any excess dirt and mud.
There will be a marquee in which you can leave your bags but we as organisers are unable to accept responsibility for any belongings or valuables which you leave in the marquee. We would advise you not to bring valuables to the event.
What to Wear
No football boots or spikes are to be worn on the course please. We would advise you to wear normal flat-soled training shoes or trail shoes. The best footwear is a pair of old trainers with nice tight laces.
We would advise competitors to arrive in the clothing they intend to wear racing and bring a change of clothes, towel and some bin bags for the trip home. Cotton clothing is not advisable to race in as it will retain water from the ponds as you work through the rest of the course. Most competitors – if not in fancy dress! – opt for a base-layer style top and running shorts or leggings. Please change out of your wet clothes as soon as possible after you finish your event as many competitors find they get cold very quickly.
You will receive your event t-shirt when you collect your pack.
Please do not leave your muddy clothes and shoes by the roadside – we provide bins on site that you can use.

Race Timing and Numbers
Given the nature of the event , as race numbers will get torn off in the mud , we will write your race number on your hand when you sign on. There will be a race clock at the Finish Line to show your time.
For the April 2017 event we will have some new obstacles as well as some of the old favourites. There will be approximately 25 obstacles in total on each lap. The course distance will remain at roughly the same distance of 8km and will consist of 2 laps. If you feel that you only wish to do one lap that is fine – please make sure that you come to the finish line and tell us that you have opted to do the one lap so that we can register you as having come back safely.
For the Mini Mud Madness event the distance for Wave 1 will be approximately 1km and for Wave 2 it will be 2km.
A map of the courses will be uploaded a couple of weeks before the event.
There will be marshals stationed at each of the obstacles on the Jaffa Cakes Mud Madness course. They will be there for your safety and to assist competitors when required. Marshals will not be able to help all competitors so we have installed ropes at challenging climbs to help you out of the mud.
Please be courteous and respectful to fellow competitors, staff and marshals. Any offensive violations of this statement will result in immediate disqualification and removal from the event. The marshals are volunteers, they’ve given up their time to help you out, so a nice thank you, a smile, minimal mud splatter, it’s all appreciated!
Please note, a number of the spectators at Mud Madness are young children so please be mindful of your language and gestures whilst at the event.
For the Mud Madness event prizes will be awarded to the top three individual males and individual females . We also have prizes for best fancy dress and a number of spot prizes. We are pleased to have Decathlon Belfast as the sponsor for the Prizes. There will be medals for all participants in both the Mud Madness and Mini Mud Madness events.
